With the current 4th ed rules; and the kind of templates they provide for DMs to create upgraded monsters and higher-powered low-level monsters, it is just about possible to create a sci-fi fantasy campaign world.
So, if for instance Mobius plans to run a Star Wars campaign, he may consider using 4th Ed rules based on a sci-fi campaign setting; with a few tweaks here and there; I believe it can be done. Abit more work, but there is no need for everyone to start investing money into a new rules system.
The beauty of 4th Ed now is that you can generally create almost any kind of genre campaign coz the rules are simplified and easy to work on.

thats a very good idea actually, rather than learn a whole new system we can implement the star wars system into the 4th ed. however, having played Star Wars RPG before it can be quite challenging to tweak and fit the 4th ed. There's a whole lots of stuff to tweak from force powers to weapons etc. I await the day i hold a twin lightsaber again!!  |

Brotha, easier said than done, ah. Force powers alone would take months (minimum) to figure out. What about equipment, weapons, etc? There's no template for reference in the first place. Story-wise, I've got some good ideas but the rules are practically non-existential.

I think using a d20 system based on the DC kinda rules would help abit.
