This is in relation to the Wild Magic due to the Sorcerer Powers; as brought up by Weide.
In the cases of secondary attacks due to rolling an even die roll; and you are asked to repeat the secondary attack. You only repeat it once. Unless the rules specifically state that you keep making secondary attacks as along as you roll an even on the die. If the rules never specify, the most you can attack is a max of 3. The first attack you make, and the secondary attack, and if you roll an even number again, you repeat the secondary attack once more. And if this time you roll an even number again, it doesn't grant you a 3rd secondary attack.
However, I remember that a target has to be someone else other than the initial target; within an area of 5. In this case, if the rules state target, the PC has to make an attack within the area at another PC if there is no other monster around. Unless the rules specify enemy.
This rule will remain until official amendments from WoTC is released. Other D&D forum discussions do not count.
