Marmertus was born into the Kaerlborn clan and served the army with such fervor and dedication that he rose to lead a platoon of his army.
On a fateful night sent to lead a scouting party into an enemy encampment for reconnaissance, Marmertus learnt of betrayal through his party:
He had become a political pawn marked to be removed from his ranks.
Having been sold-out by his own men, Marmertus lost the fight between his own and a band of Orcs and was knocked out, black.
As he woke, he found himself in a prison to find himself trying to stay awake from the succumbing darkness caused by poison administered to him. Much to the ebbing pain from his wounds, he managed to fight the effects of the drug and only through the mercy of Bahamut was he able to escape from his captivity......
