The Paragon adventures of DMC continue on 3rd June 2011 at Games Garage.
Party comprises of Kai (played by Eugene), Zaratul (played by Marcus), Illidian (played by SC), and Mobius (played by Edmund)
The session begins with the party walking into the Refugite settlement of Relourn. Karn seems more than happy bringing surface dwellers to the small village. Two buildings stand out from the rest - The Soulless tavern and The Core.
The party enter The Soulless and a series of hilarious events spin off. Zaratul wanders into the kitchen with the hopes of enlightening the Refugites on the best dishes in the world with the aid of Bag of Everlasting Provisions. Having to always eat unstomachable food, the Refugites start to rever Zaratul and inscribe his name on the door-way of the kitchen.
Illidian gets into a gambling session with the Refugites and the wagers are the most unlikeliest that Illidian has ever seen. One of them bets with the tail and legs of some reptilian small creature. Illidian turns the gambling session into a tool to spread the word of Selune and overcome by a sense of generosity, the Refugites start to bow to Illidian for his benevolence when they have lost the bets - although Illidian won through sheer trickery...
The party eventually heads over to The Core and meet up with the wise sage - Lorkel who offers them bowls of brownish liquid with squirming worm-like things in them. The party force themselves to consume it - Zaratul actually pours the content into a Bag of Holding through sleight of hand. The party then go on to retrieve pertinent information from Lorkel who shares with them the locality of the Deep Wastes and tells them the dangers of the Crown and the great power it brings - and also requests the party to recover some luminous gem stones in the ancient city of beholders - Ooltul.
The next day, the party meet up with the village elder - Llarn who thanks the party for their great help in the village through Zaratul's food discovery and Illidian's missionary efforts. Llarn goes on to tell the party of the crown in the Lake of Shadows and requests the party to recover it for him. He is aware of the dangers that come with it but he still wants it, believing that possession of it would give him greater power over the other dark races of the Underdark. Llarn goes on to offer the Refugite women to the party in exchange for the crown - where two of the Refugite girls are minors - much to the seething rage of Mobius. The party do not reveal that they have the crown and give their word to Llarn that they will help recover the crown and will set off in the night.
However, once outside the resident of Llarn, Mobius questions Karn on Llarn's popularity to which Karn's eyes widen and implores if Mobius is going to run a rebellion to which Karn confidently and excitedly claims that he can get support for the cause - much to Mobius dismal disbelief... He tried to calm Karn down and eventually the party decide to bring Karn along to Ooltul.
On the way to Ooltul, the party encounter a wandering party of drow, drider and mindflayer. Before the mindflayer could do anything, the party kills the mindflayer within 6 seconds. And the drow were qucickly dispatched. After the battle, Karn is even more impressed with the party and mutters an oath of allegiance to the party silently to himself.
Finally, the party reaches the edge of Ooltul where the cavernous walls are glittering with gem stones and there is a lake in the centre which seems to give bad vibes. Ignoring the sense of dread, Kai advances bravely towards the lake and fall victim to the curse of an ancient aberrant evil - however, he still collects some sample of the metallic water.
Eventually - the party decide to enter the main ruined building and come across some wretched undead - Sons of Ghaunadaur... A beholder is amongst two of them and a boulder trap is released. After some seconds into battle, the party decide its better to retreat before facing the enemies again (actually Kai just wants to recover from the curse of the lake waters, obviously no one is magnificent everytime).
When the party enters again, after some hard times, they manage to overcome the deadly undead of the Greater Evil God and the beholder - at a price, they are all exposed to the disease... Touch of Ghaunadaur...
Will the party all fall victim to the deadly disease?
Will they emerge victorious from Ooltul and return to Relourn with glory?
Will Mobius decide to usurp Llarn's throne?
Or will Zaratul decide to settle down and be a permanent cook?
Will Illidian carry on his missionary work or give in to his evil nature?
Will Kai meet his nemesis so that his arrogance be flattened? Or will Kai really stand tall - mighty and proud...
Will Thor recover from his root canal problem...?
The next session resumes in a week... til then.
