So, with our greatest defeat in an unknown dungeon of someone we don't care retrieving something we don't know what it could be, the party falls. DMC's fate hangs in the balance. After a discussion this is what we will choose to do: Jin, Marcus and SC will come back as new PCs for(hopefully) one session to retrieve the body dust and equipment of Gond and gang. Apparently, last night's discussion was a very good discussion of our PC's motivations and goals. Apparently, the most annoying boisterous PC, Gond Oremighty, is the pillar that holds the party true. (Now that is true Charisma!) On reflection, Gond's goals grew from heroic, to epic. And his goals are somewhat new to me as a player, since it practically changes the course of FR as a campaign setting. Normally I would always play a PC whose goal is selfish and boring (be a legend, live in comfort, be rich etc). This goal is seriously epic, and I would like to relive Gond Oremighty. At the same time, Mobius being the star of the show really is quite an interesting idea. Perhaps along the way of play he decides he can take on Netheril itself? Nevertheless, we have discussed and agreed that we will come back as new PCs to retrieve Gond's belongings and use a raise dead ritual. We don't really want a side story since we would be deviating away from the main storyline a la Naruto, and Gond will also need time (in game) to recruit his Goliaths from all over the world as well as make new allies. It would be most odd if he comes back and he is epic level and his horde of armies are waiting for him at Netheril's borders. But then again, DM has the last say. How you want to weave the story we leave it to you, but this is the gist of our discussion yesterday. If I mention anything incorrect, feel free to correct me gents!

Asher has turned into ashes >.> personally I don't mind him being lost to eternity to fight at Corellon's side. There wasn't really a very good story behind his character, sadly speaking.
I'm intending to play a half-elf battlemind. I have quite a few ideas going now. A manipulative psychic warrior who fights with both swords and words!
(These are not the droids you're looking for.. Really!)

Well, here's what I feel about the last session. Frankly - when the adventure was planned, there was no intention to wipe out more than half the party in the final encounter. I did not realise how powerful the creature in the final combat was until we played it. Although, I don't deny I had fun controlling the monster though.
My style of DMing now is quite different as compared to Heroic tier of playing. Encounters are not going to be straight out battles - RP elements will affect the outcome of events and how the party fares.
The party could have its downfall because of stereotype playing. There were a few avenues and approaches that DMC could have taken but missed it. And the death of Gond, Asher and Tas'sadar is totally uncalled for. Seriously, it could have been avoided. And even if death was inevitable, the most it could have been was the death of one member.
But I cannot reveal tips on how to overcome the battle encounter because there is a slight chance that the new PCs might return to take on the battle again to recover what's lost of Gond and Asher.
THE CURRENT SITUATION Currently, only Mobius and CC will carry on with the same PCs and everyone else returns with new PCs. The new PCs start at Level 12, and I will award the XP to Mobius and CC before the next adventure. I will update it on the boards.
I will not influence how the direction of DMC will go. But I can give my own opinions.
1. The new party faces the same monster and retrieves the dead body of Tas'sadar along with the rest of Gond's and Asher's personal treasure. (I remember that I said I would give it that Mobius and CC would be able to sever off Tas'sadar's arm - but after careful consideration, I decided not to) Therefore, the new party will have to face the same monster in order to retrieve Tas'sadar's dead body.
2. Mobius and CC can decide to carve new motives in FR with the new PCs - which is the same motive for Mobius - be the God of Magic.
3. After retrieving Tas'sadar - if the party intends to, they can revive Tas'sadar. However, reviving Gond and Asher would require the party to go on a great adventure in the Shadowfell to recover Gond's soul along with Asher's. I don't think that Gond would return at Epic level immediately. He would probably return at higher Paragon.
Although this would be a side-track from the main aim to squash Netheril, but I personally feel that the side-track would be rather interesting. At Paragon, probably it's time for PCs to enter other realms of adventure - and this is a good reason why DMC would want to venture into the Shadowfell. But of course, PCs can always opt for other routes and alternatives.

I think to meet the new challenges of DMC, Asher needed to be retired to make way for a new breed of adventurer. Paragon is no longer just about monster bashing: it is about thinking first, then monster bashing =P
I do think Gond needs to make it back to living, or maybe he can be like Wulfgar, fight his own way out of the Abyss, and pop out at epic tier to find his girlfriend kenna zham by his best friend lol.
Asher, I think its a good point to let him end. Damage wise will suffer, but at least saving throws will improve..

LOL. Asher was one of the reason why we survive at battles. Oh well, now the mouth will be mightier than the sword haha. Anyway, I am find with DM's storyline. Marcus, SC and myself will come back this saturday with new PCs and try to revive Tassadar, and Marcus will continue playing Tassadar and to retrieve Gond. This might be interesting as Mobius's selfish ambition might just change the course of the whole story and not revive Gond after all. Let's see how it plays out. Maybe we'll all die at the same place once again, and Deja Vu will strike us. I will be playing Kai, drow rogue.

Seng Choon - you may want to prepare something for standby... I don't want to make it draggy for FR unless everyone is really hyped up for the session.

And suddenly - DMC encounters are back to hack and slash... and you suddenly wish that Gond and Asher were still around... *evil laugh*
And since Eugene has to leave by 7pm, then we shall have two game sessions then. DMC followed by CoC.

No worries on that. Kai is both sweet talker and bitter killer.
