it's not 4.5, just what some people call it.
It basically gives more options. a lot more...

I don't mind more campaign material and supplements, but not constant changes in rules, etc.

Is red box the essentials thing? What I dont like about essentials is that its supposed to make things easier.. but the very first thing they focus on (melee basic attacks) resulted in nerfs issued with regards to the melee training feat.. which is retarded.
its not a 4.5 with regards to massive sweeping changes from 3.0 to 3.5, but if you take a look at when 4th came out, and 4th with errata, many game mechanics are subtly different. they should just let us trade in our PHBs for newer PHB reprints...

Essentials as I see it is a reverse back to 3.5E peppered with 4E. Sooner or later 4E is gonna end up in the same state as 3.5E, and then there will be a need for 5E.
Anyway I'll pass on this one.

ok. I'm more looking forward to essentials. Though if sales suck, they only have themselves to blame for screwing everyone all over

We will stick to 4th Edition and no more to 5th Edition unless its really really fantastic, and I mean in terms of everything from rules system to packaging to free gifts, like when you buy the 5th Ed PHB, it comes free with miniatures of every single race and class and free character sheets; and DMG comes with free 3D dungeon tiles, and monster manuals come with all the monster minis. And the cost is the same at the flat rate of $60+
Chances of this happening is 0%, so screw the whole 4.5 or 5. All these fucking errata and etc and just suggestions made by players who happen to be in the official gaming company, so their views get published. All that playtesting shit sometimes is just bogus.
We shall just stick to 4th Ed.

The important part of D&D is to make the game fun for ourselves. We can be content with what we have and not scramble like headless flies over every new release. Keeping up to date with the quarterly errata is hassle enough and while I am quite willing to abide by the changes, I wouldn't mind having a long talk with the editors for doing their fucking job for them. Check this clip out by the way... www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/dungeons-and-dragons-essentials-a-big-change/

I totally agree with Edmund on this... The game has to be fun and we should be contented with what we have. I mean I just did a rough check and I realise that I have spent more than half a thousand on this 4th Ed... The most amount of money ever spent for RPG. N I am fucking sick of errata. Most of the errata are just suggestions by playtestrrs anyway...
