Character History :
Erevan is the classic tragic-romance hero.
Raised within the fey realms, Erevan was educated in eladrin culture and the religious teachings of the good Gods – Bahamut and Corellon. However, Erevan never really absorbed the teachings too much, having his own perspectives on the meaning of justice and honour.
At the age of 200, Erevan was walking along the rivers in the Feywild one day when he heard cries of help. He rushed forward to see that a group of human priests were trying to kill a woman who had long flowing pink hair. He quickly interfered and blocked the advances of the priests.
One of them shouted out, “Sir, you haven’t got the slightest indication of who you are protecting! She is a vampiress; a creature of dark Evil. She must be put to rest eternally!”
Erevan looked at the woman and his heart ached for her. She was bleeding badly and her clothes were almost stripped to nothing. Teachings of Bahamut and Corellon clashed with his own views. Erevan grabbed hold of the woman and he raised a hand to the priests, “She is now under my charge. Please do not advance further. I shall refer her to my own council for judgement”. The priests could only shrug and retreat.
However, instead of referring her to the eladrin council, Erevan nursed the woman back to health and a strong bond developed between the two. They would meet up with each other in the nights and exchanged stories and shared visions.
Eventually, Erevan fell for the woman, for he could not reject the true beauty of the woman as he would always gaze into her blushing face and the pink hair flowing about her. However, the woman would always reject Erevan’s confessions of love. Eventually one night, after 5 decades, the woman said to Erevan, “Fey lord… I can’t accept your love because we are from different sides. You belong to where the light shines upon you. I am a monster! A creature of the Shadowfell. We can never see beyond than that…”
Erevan, imbued with passion, spoke in earnestness, “Believe me! We can break through the barriers. You are no monster, Akashiya! You are the epitome of beauty, not even Laurana could compare! I don’t care whether you hail from the Shadowfell or the Abyss. I love you and that’s all it matters! I am sure the Gods would bless us! Believe me!”
Akashiya eventually accepted Erevan’s love. In his excitement, Erevan decided to introduce Akashiya to his family. He believed that his family would understand the meaning of love, the meaning of forgiveness…
“And you expect me to see the future generation in my bloodline filled with half-vampire bastards?! Are you crazy, my son? She is a vampiress! She is a creature of Evil!”
Erevan could not persuade his father to see the same angle as he did. However, he disobeyed and went on to bring Akashiya into his bed chambers; amidst horrors from the rest of the family and house-servants.
And one night, as Erevan was out on an errand sent by his father. The priests of Bahamut were summoned and they confronted Akashiya. Despite her pleas, the priests crucified her and drove metallic spikes into her heart.
Whilst Erevan was away, he felt something and grew uneasy. He realised how foolish he was to have left Akashiya alone! He rushed back to his bedchambers only to see his beloved dying. He cried as he rushed to the courtyard where Akashiya was raised above the grounds on a wooden crucifix. He removed her and brought her down as blood flowed from her mouth.
Amidst heart-rending sobs, Erevan apologised and said, “Akashiya… We have a lot to see… there is so much more. You can’t just leave me alone!”
The vampiress smiled as she raised her hands to his cheeks, and she kissed him for the last time and whispered, “My love, weep not for me. Remember me always… my love for you is eternal.”
As the body of Akashiya disappeared into glowing whiteness, a pendant dropped into Erevan’s hands. Clenching his fists tightly, Erevan stood up and walked towards the priests. A dark shadow formed over his face as he spoke slowly in a controlled voice, “You speak of Bahamut; his teachings of upholding justice and honour. You speak of protecting the weak, liberating the oppressed, and defending just order.’
Erevan continued to speak as he sobbed, “All she wanted was pardon… but you never gave her that chance to redeem herself…”
Erevan walked towards his family, his mother with tears streaking down her face as she realised that she may have been wrong in judging her son’s love. With his longsword, Erevan slit his left forearm and blood flowed. As the blood trickled to the ground, he spoke, “As of this day, I forsake the Gods. My ties with you are severed…”
Erevan then turned and walked out of the courtyard towards the gates. No one dared to stop him, as they noticed dark shadows forming around him as he left the household he had been staying at for more than 2 centuries. Unknown to the rest of the eladrin kin at scene, Erevan had already made a pact with the infernal dark side as his blood dripped to the ground…
“In the name of love, the Gods have disfavoured me. Why should I still believe in them anymore when good is corrupt? Let me have the powers of the dark side as I seek vengeance against the self-assuming hypocrites of the good Gods.”
And on the day his beloved died, Erevan made an infernal pact with the dark side, and thus a new warlock is born. And he gave himself a new middle name – Gackt, in sarcasm to mock at the good Gods. ‘Gackt’ stands for Gods Always Can Kill Them; to remind himself that only the Gods can kill without giving a good reason.
Erevan is a dark person who keeps to himself. However, he is still good and will stand up for the oppressed and weak. However, he does not preach the words of the Gods and insists he is from the dark side.
He never parts with Akashiya’s pendant, believing that her life-force is stored within the pendant. He seeks to bring her back to him someday, somehow…
