Background:
Was a farmer near the eastern coasts of the island Alaron within the Moonshae Isles. He had a family of three. The constant skirmishes that the village faced with the Feywild prompted him to to take extra precautions to protect his family. His family never faced any encounters with the Feywild. A spring night five years ago reshaped his complacency and changed the peaceful, secure life he took for granted. After celebrating the annual spring coming festival with fellow villagers, Lucien decided to stay with his fellow mates at the local tavern for a round of bouts. After all, what could go wrong in a merry night as such? Landing a couple of slaps to the backs of his mates he headed to the tavern with them.
As he turned towards his back and left his family to depart for home, he heard a shriek that reminded him of his wife when she saw a snake in the fields. He smiled to himself and shook his head but as he took a glance to the back he would remember the scene he saw for the rest of his life.
A slim figure with glowing green eyes and two tiny horns on its head stared back at him with two corpses on the ground. A child was
grabbed in the arms of the creature. Suddenly remembering he heard his daughter cry, "Father!" Lucien lowered his eyes and realised that his wife, Emma, and his son, Baron were the lifeless figures on the ground. Four year old Rosemary was in the hands of the elfin looking creature.
The creature melted into the shadows as he heard the trail of Rosemary cries fading into the forests. For three days, his fellow villagers attempted to search for any traces of his daughter and could not find anything. Cursing the Fey and all their abominations, he vowed to become strong, avenge his family and reclaim back his only surviving child, Rosemary.
Traits:
Lucien has a scar on his chest. Once upon a time in his youth, he came across tales of a boar eating bloke known as 'The Fat Bloke with Red Pigtails Who Never Called Himself Fat' who fell into a cauldron of magic potion and was strong and invincible. The fat bloke was apparently a menhir mason as well. the bloke is apparently the best friend of the protaganist, a fearless and wise blonde halfling. A young and naive child then, Lucien wanted to be like that bloke. While there were druids living near his village, Lucien never found a cauldron for him to fall into. Lucien tried a hand at being a stone mason but he did not have the finesse the carve stone, not even menhirs, apparently. Thinking that perhaps, the bloke's strength came from eating wild boars, Lucien tried to hunt them.
When he was ten, he became a successful boar hunter and proclaimed himself as strong as the 'Fat Bloke with Red Pigtails' amongst his school friends. However once at a hunting trip, after Lucien had successfully speared two young boars he suddenly heard a loud snort and saw a boar, five barrels of Moonshalean Ale wide, staring down at him, he knew he was in trouble.
Lucien thinking he had piggywiggy's strength, he charged at the boar wanting to wrestle it and perhaps later roast it and drown it with a tankard of beer (even though he never tried alcohol before). Not surprisingly, he was not successful in the attempt and got a jarring scar on his chest from the boar's tusks. He was in bed for a year.
Since then, Lucien was mocked at by his peers for his foolishness and was often referred to as the "The Bard Who Can't Sing" for his squeals when his mom cleaned his wounds while he was in bed. It was a direct reference to the tales of the blonde halfling and the fat bloke with red pigtails who never called himself fat, where the village bard of the two characters lived could neither have the chance to sing nor even have the talent to do so.
Lucien has since abstained from all forms of pork and subsequently took a liking of the antagonist of the tales' heroes, 'The Evil Emperor Who Could Never Get Things Right Apparently'.
Character:
Lucien is a warm at heart. While he may have reservations to the other races and a particular disdain for the Fey, he believes people should be allowed to prove themselves. Fiercely loyal to his friends and family, he would be willing to give his life for people close to his heart, never to lose them again in a moment of recklessness. He is overtly cautious at times and firmly believes that excessive prudence is not an obsession but a virtue. Lucien is always looking for his child Rosemary. He has a soft spot for children and families. Coming from a humble background, he also does not believe in extravagance lest they be like the Amnish merchants that are disturbing the peace in his region.
