Edit: Added part 1 of his background story. The TLDR version is that he is from another world where he worships the Raven Queen, got sucked into a portal, ended up in Faerun where the closest god that answers his prayer is Kelevmor. Nevertheless he still upholds the Raven Queen's ideals of killing stuff without fear or favour, and works towards getting back to his homeworld. He's an elf, but the elves from his world aren't the treehugging variety. He's also curious about this strange new world he's on, and interested in exploring and finding out more.

Part 1:
Asher Gar’mon is not from this world. He was from another plane, defending his homeland against the demonic and undead hordes of Orcus as an elven avenger fighting for the Raven Queen. Where he came from elf and drow alike united under the banner of the Queen of the Dead to push back Orcus’ invasion, using sword, sorcery and faith to stem the horrific tide of chaos and madness.
Portals from the Abyss have appeared across the land, allowing the demons to cross forth easily into his world. One of the many tasks that the clerics of the Raven Queen have to do was to seek out these portals, destroy their guardians and seal it before more demons could pass through. Asher was with one such group, defending the clerics from demonspawn as they engaged in the lengthy sealing ritual.
At his very last mission, his group had barely survived to reach the cellars of an old abandoned fort, after being ambushed by demons. They repelled the attack, but not before losing half their comrades. They were here to close a portal, and sure enough in front of them the yawning portal lay, spewing forth demonic energies from the Abyss.
While the cleric Dapthne and the wizard Viera set about inscribing runes around the cellar for the ritual, Matthias the paladin and Asher took up positions in front of the portal, ready to cleave any demons that passed through into two.
The ritual started. All that could be heard was the pulsing of dark portal, and rising above that the chanting voices of the cleric and the wizard. The process went on undisturbed for nearly an hour. The portal shimmered and started to shrink under the divine might of the Raven Queen.
But something was not right. At the most critical moment of the closure of the portal, a dull roar could be heard coming from the other side. Intrigued, Matthias went forward to take a closer look…. “Watch out! It’s a..” before Asher could finish his warning, a giant flaming whip shot through the portal and wrapped round Matthias’ leg. With a horrified last look at his friends, he was pulled kicking and screaming through the Abyss, where he will be undoubtedly torn into shreds by whatever horrors that lie within. “MATTHIAS!!”, Asher roared, “Demon! Come out and fight me! COME OUT AND FIGHT!” In response to Asher’s challenge, a giant clawed hand covered with coarse fur and streaks of blood loomed out of the portal, slashing and raking wildly.
“We just need a few more minutes! Just try to hold it off!” Dapthne shouted, beads of concentration rolling off her forehead. Asher did not need further motivation. With a cry to the Raven Queen to protect him, he brought his axe heavily into the demon’s wrist, spraying black blood everywhere. The demon’s hand tensed as it felt the pain, but resumed its frenzied flailing, and with a lucky swipe catching Asher full on his chest, knocking him down. Sensing that it had hit something, the giant demon hand groped around on the floor, finding Asher’s leg and wrapped around it. It then slowly retracted his hand back towards the portal, pulling its captive along.
Panicking, Asher struggled to break free, chopping repeatedly into the back of the demon’s hand, but it was ineffectual. He clawed his hands on the ground, desperate for something to hold on, but the cellar’s cobbled floor provided nothing. “Dapthne! Finish the ritual! Close the portal now!”, he screamed, as he was drawn closer and closer..
“It’s done!”
The final words of the ritual were uttered, and portal began to swirl and close. It looked hopeful that the portal will close before Asher was drawn into it, but alas the demon too sensed that it was closing, and with a mighty tug pulled Asher the last few feet into the portal. With a cry of dismay, Asher was pulled through the other side, just as the portal closed in above his head…
