I realised I have in my possesion almost 2GB of DnD content, and Dungeon Delving is one of them. I have glanced through, and basically, as Marcus puts it, its like "playing diablo".
Essentially, its a maximum combat / minimum roleplaying a la DnD Gameday style. I have decided to volunteer to DM Dungeon Delving for our group. (probably a once a month thing, or max twice a month)
This will allow us to playtest that character that we always wanted to try out, but never wanted to have any emotional attachment to it (like writing background story etc) This will also allow us to learn tactics we can employ, or simply to acquire bragging rights.
Every session is a one off thing. Meaning to say, that there is no sub-plot and sub-sub plot (mayyyyybe there might be). I will try to mod it like a computer game, a bit more linear and you will also see the typical quests like (get this, kill that, get key etc)
I have only glanced thru the book, so the first session will start in July, when either before Leonard leaves for japan or after.
Go forth and prepare your characters!
Beware, the DM is out to kill. For dungeon delving, there is no mercy.

WOOHOO!!! Dungeon Delving it shall be!!! By the way, whats the level of the PCs that we should create?
Do keep us notified of this Dungeon Delve thingy during the next session. And I think you can start preparing for the dungeon delve thingy.
Because I believe the next session after the 22nd, shall be held in July.

The first dungeon delve session will be the next session after 22nd June Monday's game. It will most likely be held once a month, or at most twice a month. The style is, as mention, minimal RPing / Maximum combat. (very linear, PC-based gaming. I would like to see how DnD 4th Ed can be tweaked to a PC-based game) The aim of the game, is to die the least as possible, and survive every adventure. The reward of the game? Bragging rights. The guidelines I have taken from the RPGA website on an event they call the "Ultimate Dungeon Delving": 1) Your group may take short rests between encounters when possible but may not take an extended rest at any point during the adventure. 2) Characters that die are out of play. You may take a fallen comrade's gear with you during the remainder of the adventure. Players of dead characters are still rewarded if the team manages to complete the Ultimate Dungeon Delve. If the whole team has died during an adventure, they will have to retry the adventure again. (much like a PC game isn't it?) There is still a simple storyline, and you can still RP if you want to. But if you attempt to leave the "mission area", there is an invisible wall blocking you from leaving. (again, like a PC game ) You may change your character at any time in between each character via the Soul Closet (more to be told during the first session) There is a Hero's Chest for each player to store items that you find in each adventure. (think Diablo) Please create Level 2 characters and be ready for the Dungeon Delve! I tell you most solemnly, the DM will be merciless (your hero might not even have the chance to take the first death saving throw), and there will be much despair.(but much fun too.) The DM is out to KILL. Player beware!

I have come up with a character creation concept that, if anyone would like to take up the challenge, have great benefits from it. I remembered this creation method from way back when I started DnD, its called the:
IRONMAN Style There are 2 methods. 1) For each stat, roll 4d6. Take away the smallest number. That is your score for that stat. There is no re-assigning of numbers. Basically what class you play will be dependant on the numbers you roll.
2)Pick a class you want to play, then use method 1. This is a even greater challenge. Because shit like "If you wanted to play a wizard and you get a score of 8 for Intel" may happen.
Benefits: Method 1) You get a +2 to one of your ability scores on top of your racial adjustments. Method 2) You get a +2 to one of your ability scores on top of your racial adjustments and 1 magic item(up to +2) of your choice (excluding artifacts & relics)
Anyone would like to try?

I see... I will be using the IRONMAN method 2 in this case. By the way, I need the FRPG, can Eugene help here?
What should I be? Hmmz...
My PC shall be a Dwarven Fighter! He shall be Tordrek. Tordrek loves nothing more than tearing his enemies into pieces and dragging them along. Everything can only be resolved through the outcome of battle.
I shall save my eladrin warlock for another day.

But the Ironman method doesn't allow! Tat's the whole fun of it. The fates will decide what you will become.
Nice to see 2 gung-ho players. I also will want to try method 2 for Marcus's campaign. Its damn funny if I play a wizard with high str. nice to roleplay a person in an identity crisis. hahaha.
Marcus whenever you are free for our chill outs you can roll. Leonard I can pass you the books this tuesday and u can roll there and then also.

Ok... so Tordrek has 8 for his Strength.. it doesn't matter. Tordrek will still be a fearsome fighter!

Tordrek. The failed fearsome fighter.
Doesn't matter though, its how you gonna play him. Last night I was looking how to redeem my failed sword mage (intel 7) and I realised its actually not that bad. Haha don't be surprised if my swordmage has AC 30. Woots!

I hope Tordrek has a high charisma to scare foes. This actually sounds cool. Jin, can I opt for method 2? IRONMAN 2 - Warden. >

lol! its not the power of the force at work here. Its the power of the magic item +2. To get a score of 3 is to roll 1 for all 4 dies. Seriously if that can happen, I'm giving u an 18 for the first four 1s die roll. I have never seen four 1s before, so I'm giving you an 18 as amusement bonus. Leonard is going to make noise here, but wait! Leonard you didn't roll four 1s on tuesday night. I remember the lowest score you rolled was a 4, that means you rolled three 1s and one 2. let's meet up before the delve to roll your stats. then at least u have enough time to pore over the books and see what feats you can use to augment your, possibly, weak characters.

Our characters will not be weak!
We may be peasants at worst, but we shall be extra-marvelous ones if it be!

Guys, shall we dwelve as a "heroic" party of villagers from the same settlement?

We till the land and spread manure all our lives and suddenly we get the hay fever to go dungeon delving? Ok, that works. Lemme go sharpen my pitchfork and brush the rust of my shovel. Those with animal companions feats do remember to bring your oxes.
