Friday The 13th - April 2012
PCs present – Tas'sadar / Asher / Thor / Mobius
And so the heroes decided to venture into Old Skull in a bid to gain Elminster's trust...
The party move on to locate Old Skull to rid off the problem caused by the waning portal that Elminster had used to seal the darkness from beneath.
The party descend from their sky-ship with Kai staying behind to look after the ship. The rest proceed on and find themselves in a clearing where Old Skull is supposed to be.
This part of Shadowdale is dark and shadows flit around at the edge of the clearing. Arcane vibes surround the heroes as watchful eyes keep a look out on the party. Towering in the distance the heroes see the glorious and magnificent dormant volcano which the people call Mt. Fuji.
Before the party can proceed, they are approached by a group of creatures. Dwarf-like enemies with grotesque monsters with misshapen features and crystal-bodied humanoids. A battle ensues and the party realize that the Netherese are watching the party as the crystal humanoids bear the emblem of the Netheril.
This is one encounter that will be remembered. How Asher valiantly smites the crystal humanoid that had shape-changed to look like Mobius. And to Asher's horror, the massive amount of damage he caused went to Mobius. And Mobius learnt a painful lesson... never go near crystal-bodied humanoids
With the battle done, Mobius manages to gain access into a secret magic portal that leads the party into Old Skull... or is it?
The heroes find themselves in a what-seems-to-be-a different dimensional plane because they are in a cavern and yet it seems floating on its own in limbo. Definite and yet not. But what came next was something unexpected.
The heroes are given a welcome by whoops and shouts as more of the crystal-bodied humanoids slide down the cavernous walls and a dog-like huge creature appears with a droopy face, with a fire giant. The dog-like creature introduced himself as the Great Cakespeare and carried on to pride himself with the contributions he made to Shadow literature - King Benry, Bromeo and Buliet...and all these when the fire giant was dancing and prancing around the pole he affixed to the ground.
A battle was inevitable... more of the miscued attacks from Asher to Mobius because of the crystal-bodied humanoids. And eventually Cakespeare calls for a truce...
And the session came to a halt -
For this session, no treasure were earned, and XP is held back. What holds in store for the heroes if they manage to walk through the huge twin doors... Cakespeare has forewarned a powerful adversary resides beyond the doors.
What is to be expected in the next session?! More surprises will be in store for the heroes... betrayals of the darkest seeds, more eccentric creatures and enemies, glorious recognition...
