The Paragon adventures of DMC continue on 29th May 2011 at Games Garage.
Party comprises of Kai (played by Eugene), Zaratul (played by Marcus), Illidian (played by SC), Thor (played by Alvin) and Mobius (played by Edmund)
The session begins with the party in the Underdark and getting acquainted with each other. After getting slightly accustomed to the new dark environment - the party is approached by a group of Duergars who allow the party free passage if they are willing to surrenger 5,000 gold pieces - to which of course... the party refuses. A fight breaks out and when 2 of the Duergars are left - one of them requests for a truce and suggests that the party lets them go and in return, the Duergar will allow the party free passage beyond. However, Thor kept questioning one of the Duergars if they are from Nethril - and much to the irritation of the Duergar - the fight continues with the party victorious.
The parfty decides to head towards the direction where the Duergar had suggested them to go towards to. Along the way - with endurance failing and fatigue setting in, the party is intercepted by a group of Grimlocks and another battle ensues with the party defeating them.
With much confidence, the party trudge on until they reach the Lake of Shadows where they see a brilliance of lights from the centre of the lake. Or what seems like the centre of the lake - there are small stone slabs which seem to lead to the centre of the lake. However, Mobius decides to walk across the waters on his own. He discovers the source of the light which seems to be a crown in the waters. He conjures a mage hand and tried to get the crown, but before the hand can touch the crown, the earth rumbles and suddenly rocks start to shift upwards, but Mobius manages to maintain his stand with his staff. An aboleth and group of Water Archons appear - obviously perturbed that Mobius had desecrated their grounds.
A fierce battle ensues with walls of fire and swinging ravines that appear out of nowhere from the ceiling. Hopping and bopping about the stone slabs on the waters and heroic critical acts of rescuing Mobius from the group of archons take place. But, Mobius was killed before he could escape out from danger. But the rest of the party manage to eliminate the foes and bring Mobius back to life.
After setting up camp and having a rest, the party is approached by a Refugite who calls himself Karn who volunteers to bring the party to the Refugite village. He also volunteers to be their scout - after having been offered good food from the party. Eventually, the party follow Karn to the Refugite settlement which is nestled away in a low chasm. The houses are made of poor material and a population of 500 lives in the settlement.
The session comes to an end when the party approaches the settlement with Karn. Can the party find answers to get out of the Underdark? And who is Karn? Is he trustworthy?
What about Lorkel? The supposedly wise Refugite whom Karn talks about?
