First and foremost, I apologise for the very long delay in updating the progress of the adventures. Well, bogged down with too much schoolwork and a trip to Japan, and that procrastination all adds to the inertia on updating the progress.
Well, now I am getting my ass on the job and I realize we have had quite a number of sessions and it is almost impossible to remember how many sessions we had exactly, and also who the players were in each session. So, what I am going to do is I am going to just give a brief run through of the PCs progress in the adventure campaign.
However, as I am updating this now, allow me to give DMC’s heartiest welcome to new player – Alvin who plays Viona; who has been in our sessions recently.
And also, all the best to Seng Choon in his educational endeavours overseas. We will miss Asher – the Avenger badly. And I believe all of us are looking forward to his return next year~!
In the last update, the party ended when they were entering the Halls of the Hammer
LOUDWATER ADVENTURES II – HALLS OF THE HAMMER
In the Halls of the Hammer, the PCs manage to hobgoblins and bugbears along with riddles. They even encounter ancient undead [mummies paired alongside poltergeists… that’s nice].
And in the final encounter…
You enter through the door and enter a huge room. The walls are lined with tapestries depicting pictures of various dwarves in ancient times. You also see an image of the legendary dwarven hero – Tordrek. The dwarf who single-handedly brought down several dragons.
But all these do not capture your attention. What you notice is at the other end of the wall, there is a huge throne. And on top of the throne sits a huge reptilian creature. It almost looks like a dragon, but you know it is not, for it is multi-legged. The creature then starts to speak in a guttural voice, “I have heard of your coming… Before I change my mind, please leave these caverns.”
The PCs manage to overcome the Behir in the final encounter, and as the PCs defeat the Behir …
As the huge multi-legged serpentine creature falls to the floor, the air in the room suddenly glows radiantly bright and you notice something hovering in the air above the throne. It looks like a chainmail armour. Upon closer inspection, it has the symbols of Moradin on it. It seems to be imbued with fighting spirit and holy strength. It suddenly seems to move on its own and stops before the goliath fighter.
It is here when the PCs encounter the artefact – The Invulnerable Coat of Arnd.
ADVENTURING IN PELTARCH
The PCs rise up to Level 7 and return to Loudwater. Apparently, Nimozaran has survived the attack by Netheril and is currently putting up at Lady Moonfire’s residences.
As you ride back into Loudwater, Captain Harrowleaf approaches you and informs you that a wizard by the name of the High Septarch is waiting for you at Lady Moonfire’s residences.
Nimozaran speaks, “Almost 500 years ago, in the Year of the Fearless Peasant, twin crowns were crafted for the coronation of Princess Aliia and her Cormyrian consort – Rhiigard. They were sailing on board the ship – Nadyra’s Glory, when the succubus; Soneillon, sank their ship. Apparently, Soneillon recovered the twin crowns; and it is rumoured that there was another great magical weapon that was also taken from the sunken ship.”
Nimozaran continues, “Yes, there are two Crowns of Whispers. These items are lost in the hands of the hobgoblins found at Giantspire Mountain. It is known that there are various tribes and these crowns are with either one or two of these tribes. Apparently, Soneillon was torn from Faerun during the Spellplague. It is also believed that her deathknight consort – Imbrar Heltharn, had followed her to the other side. But, all these are recorded texts from almanacs; of which no one can be certain of. But with the aid of the Crown of Whispers, Drad Mi stands a higher chance of rebuilding the fey community. That is our only hope against the rising forces of Netheril…”
Narfell
The PCs are teleported to the cold region of Narfell by Nimozaran, but somehow the magic turns abit awry and the PCs are landed in different areas of a dungeon. Howveer, they manage to survive the ordeal and fight their way out of the caves with bears… much to some of the PCs’ dismay…
The PCs eventually manage to find their way to Peltarch. In Peltarch itself, the PCs embark on 3 separate mini quests
Hook #1 – The White One
Hook #2 – Bring me Tirian’s Head
Hook #3 – Missing Kellie
The PCs decide to travel in search of the truth behind Tirian’s disappearance and rumours that he has been converted into a zombie. At the Battlefield Downs, the PCs adventure through ice-covered lands and search for the missing Tirian. However, they managed to find a head impaled upon a stick that starts gibbering, causing excessive psychic damage. And the party happily loads the head into their Bag of Holding, as a present to Mobius.
Eventually, the PCs manage to find Tirian’s head, and it is true that he has been converted to one of the undeads. As they were about to leave, they manage to come upon Tirian’s hut and hear the cries of a girl coming from beneath the trapdoor of the run-down hut. As they climb down the ladder into the darkness…
You hear the sounds of a girl crying coming from some hidden trapdoor from the hut. You open the trapdoor and notice that the sound seems to come from down under. A ladder seems to lead all the way down.
Amidst the rocks tumbling down, you see shadowy figures hovering about you. They seem to be from an ancient time and they circle round you…
After defeating the Phantom Warriors and Trap Haunts, the PCs manage to move on and find Kellie…
You enter a dark room and the air here is dank. Ahead, you can see what looks like a well, and you can hear someone whimpering from inside the well…
You see the hair of someone floating in the waters, and slowly, you see a head emerging out from the waters. A pale face looks up at you with eyes that bore straight into your souls. Then the arms stretch out from the waters and dig into the walls of the well, and slowly, it climbs upwards… You move backwards, aghast. The figure crawls over the well, and remains on all fours as its hair sways about its face. The movement of the figure seems almost rigid and as though, it must have injured its limbs as it fell into the well. Just then, you hear the sounds of something wailing, and you see figures circling you…
The PCs manage to defeat the Drowned Ghost and the sodden ghouls, and return back to Peltarch with sad news that both Tirian and Kellie are dead.
Subsequently, the PCs move on to investigate about the great white flying creature that the drunkard – Sorjak, keeps talking about.
The most comical situation erupts when the PCs decide to let Mune – the Bard, enter the caverns on her own, whilst the rest wait outside. However, the PCs manage to overcome the dangers of the Howling Hag and her minions and proceed on to face the White Dragon in the last encounter. The PCs return as heroes to Peltarch once more.
NARFELL AND THE CROWN OF WHISPERS
The PCs return to Peltarch and rise up to Level 8. The PCs meet up with Sorjak, who reveals that he knows of someone who is able to help the PCs on their search for the magical items found in the hands of the hobgoblins at the Giantspire Mountains.
As the PCs eventually agree to get Sorjak’s aid, they rest for the night at Tirian’s Inn. As the PCs rest the night, they are awoken.
As you look down the windows from your room, you notice a group of figures walking along the streets. They seem to have wings and are dressed in chainmail, wielding great swords. They have horns protruding out of their heads. Just then, you notice that one of them is holding a decapitated head of a small child…
The PCs encounter an Oni Night Haunter with a few Cambuion Hellswords. Try as they might, the PCs fail to detain one of the Cambion Hellswords, who managed to flee with the decapitated head of the small child.
Old Peltarch – The Great Silver
The PCs proceed on to find Silverhelm at Old Peltarch, battling through eladrins, angels of valor, gnome entropists, genasi, darkmantle envelopers and spriggans, the PCs eventually manage to meet Silverhelm.
As the doors open, you enter a large room and you hear the voice of such serenity that you cannot help but awe at it. You see a woman in silver tunic with silvery hair seated on a chair at the end of the room by a ‘window’??!! She is playing a harp and singing along with it. She hears you entering and looks towards you. She glares at you.
The PCs eventually discover that Silverhelm is actually a Silver Dragon, and as a battle ensues, the Silver Dragon stops and agrees to assist the PCs on their quest [to which the arrogant Gond belittles the might of Silverhelm, thinking that just because DMC has defeated a couple of puny dragons, they can take on anything].
Raid on the Black Wolves
Silverhelm and other silver dragons ferry the PCs by air to Giantspire Gap and the PCs come upon a landing which would lead into the hideout of the Black Wolves where the magical Crown of Whispers could be found.
The PCs battle through satyr, ogres and hobgoblins to find their way into the final encounter with Pale Reaver, Dragon Shell and the Hand of Bane. The PCs manage to defeat the enemies and the adventure ends with the PCs victorious as they manage to find the Crown of Whispers; and the PCs rise up to Level 9.
DM’s afterword
I would like to thank the DMC for making this campaign possible with selfless efforts to attend as many sessions as possible. And I believe there will be more fun sessions, adventures that will somehow be great education in life itself. See you guys on the 13th of November… and incidentally, it is also Friday the 13th. Be prepared to meet Jason…
Sorry, still can't believe that MJ is no longer around~ and especially after the DMC movies to This Is It...
